- "Three strikes and you're out" rule still applies to eligibility. - ALL anglers wishing to fish Sectionals MUST attend four of five practice tournaments (barring emergency circumstances which will only be addressed on a case-by-case basis) AND - ALL anglers wishing to fish Sectionals MUST have a minimum of 30 AoY Points as of April 24. Less than 30 points as of that practice will mean not competing in (possibly) our largest tournament of the year. These terms are non-negotiable. All anglers wanting to fish for a shot at the State Title must be absolutely dedicated to EVERY aspect of being a student-athlete. If we are to be the best team ON the water, we must also be the best team OFF the water. Below is our Spring 2014 Tournament schedule. All dates have been on our calendar, but here is the updated list.

As soon as you have a partner and boat captain, you are expected to sign up with that information. Points Updated as of 3/10:1. Devan Carpenter - 43
2. Cody Pratt - 39 2. Blake Timmons - 39 4. Shawn Wright - 37 5. Tristian Thomas - 30 6. Jordan Coats - 22 7. Emily Grimm - 14 8. Wyatt Mustread - 6 Make sure to get your sports physical complete and sent in to the office, as well as signing the insurance waiver and other forms in the packet you were given. Effective this week, if any student is marked ineligible three(3) times before Sectionals, that student will no longer be allowed to fish at Sectionals. We now have a definitive AoY Points leader, a slight added gap between 4th and 5th, as well as a change in 7th and 8th. It's definitely early and anything can happen once we hit the water in March, but the Points race is already heating up!

Devan Carpenter - 20 Updates AoY Points as of our last practice rank each angler as follows:
1. Devan Carpenter - 15 1. Cody Pratt - 15 3. Shawn Wright - 12 3. Blake Timmons - 12 5. Tristian Thomas - 9 6. Wyatt Mustread - 6 7. Jordan Coats - 3 Breakdown for points: Practice - 3pts BPS Angler's Arena - 5pts Tournaments - Points based on placing/creel weight 1st Place - 10pts + 1pt for each pound of fish 2nd Place - 9pts + weight 3rd Place - 8pts + weight etc. with a minimum points being 5 total Why are points important? Remember, the top 4 AoY points scorers the week of Sectionals will be on the Sectional team. Guaranteed, assuming they are eligible to compete. This comes with a chance to fish at State, as well as a bid for the Angler of the Year title! Practices have commenced for our 2014 season. We WILL have practice EVERY MONDAY AND THURSDAY, 3:30-5:00, on days when school is in session.
If you did not attend our first practice, you had better start showing up! Points are currently up to date, and will be regularly updated (once or twice per week). Remember, top 4 points scorers are basically guaranteed a spot in the Sectional team. If you don't show up for practice, you don't get the points, and you will be unlikely to be selected to go to Sectionals and (hopefully!) State. |
