Time for our first 4-wheeler ride!
Hello! My name is Ben Schweizer, and I am the 5-12 Music Director and Head Bass Fishing Coach for Cuba Schools. A graduate of Western Illinois University with a Bachelor's of Music in Education with a Choral/General emphasis, I am a singer and a low brass player. A life-long vocalist and instrumentalist, I have been in bands and choirs from the time I was very young. While at WIU, I sang with The Advantage mens a capella octet, Concert Choir, Madrigal Singers and University Singers, played trombone in the Jazz Band, played tuba in the Concert Band and Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and marched sousaphone and was a drum major for the Marching Leathernecks. I have studied tuba with Terry Solomonson (WIU), and voice with Lynn Thompson (WIU) and John Koch (ISU). I was also a member and President of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Fraternity, where I still hold an active Alumni membership, as well as professional memberships with the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) and the Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA).
My wife, Autumn, who is also a teacher, and I currently live in Warsaw with our sons, Cole and Blake. We also have a beagle named Bo, and two cats named Jack and Flurry.
I have received the question so many times "what do you do besides teach?" Well, I love fishing, hunting, and just about anything that gets me outside! I am a member of the Lincoln Bass Fishing Club, where I have won tournaments and Big Bass awards, and hold a life B.A.S.S. membership. I also enjoy video games like Halo. Some of my favorite movies include the Star Wars saga and The Dark Knight. And, a couple TV shows I really enjoy are Monday Night RAW, NCIS, and Futurama. While I love classical music of many forms and periods, I also enjoy country music from artists like Miranda Lambert, Florida Georgia Line, and Blake Shelton. I am also training to be a Deputy Reserve Officer with the Hancock County Sheriff Department.
